Thanks to the American tradition of trick or treat I spent the evening hiding from maurading children begging for sweets (candy) and chocolate. Now when we (the fecking Irish) invented Halloween (Oiche Shamhna) we intended it to be a sort of spiritual occasion where the really adventerous adults imbibed magic mushrooms. We sat around fires and listened to magical tales of supernatural beings...girls looked in the mirror at midnight to see the face of their future husband (lucky them eh!). Witches flew on broomsticks...sigh..
