Hey Kevin:I love Jolene, but with most of his songs it's because of the manner in which he wields his vocal cords.I don't need to write anything at all to recognize that Ray Lamontagne's voice is his instrument. Without that superb conveyance of emotion, his songs would have little power. However, Jolene does have more lyrical depth than most of what I've heard so far.His shyness worked for him. At least with me. I don't appreciate any of the multimedia, stage extravaganza junk. I want music, and words that don't require a cheat sheet to be communicated.But hey, each to his own!
