Ok, the thing is we've agreed for the good of all involved not to discuss politics here and also my long posts annoy the piss out of some people. That being said I can't tell you why you should be interested in this without an extemely long post that in the end you would probably just make a Karl Rove or Dick Cheney joke about as a response. Also I've already posted a ton of information about this stuff here so if you want to just click on "History" and review some of my previous posts you can get very good idea about why I think this is important and why this Gonzales thing is just the tip of a much larger iceberg.

Now, if you just want some quick simple answers I would say this to you, this particular portion of the Bush Administrations massive list of crimes against the citizens of this country involves the manipulation and destruction of our justice system. Manipulation for political purposes, meaning the intent to turn the DOJ into just another wing of the RNC or to be more specific Karl Rove's Dirty Tricks Crew. I guess you might see that as a wonderful thing as long as "your side" is pulling the strings but that's the funny thing about setting a precedent...later when someone else gets to pull the strings they can use that precedent against you. Now, to me at least, I don't really care if it's a Republican with bad intentions or a Democrat...either one can do just as much damage and it's in our best interest not to allow that to happen. We can only stop that from happening by prosecuting these issues.

Let's say your son goes and fights in our next big war...or this war on terror and when he returns he's decorated as a war hero. Now he comes to you and says "Dad, I've been approached by a bunch of people who want me to run for office because they think with my background I can do a great job. I'm going to run for the Senate as a Democrat!"

Ok, that's probably worse to you than him telling you he's gay...but anyway as his Dad you do the right thing and support him. Let's say Karl Rove is not in jail at this point (God forbid) and he's running the campaign (yet again) of some crazy Texas Republican. Well, he smears your son with everything they can think of...they say he didn't do anything in the war, just used it for a photo op so he could run for office later, that he killed babies while he was a soldier, he's crazy, has a black love child, cheated on his wife, made a dirty real estate deal, etc...now despite all this your son wins...just barely by 200 votes. Karl calls up his buddy Johnny Sutton who is now the Attorney General and says "Hey, this scumbag Democrat Brown just won the Senate election by a couple hundred votes in Texas, do me a favor and prosecute him for voter fraud."

So, Sutton does and even though it's a bunch of crap it causes huge damage to the publics faith in your son. Is this how you think the system should work?

That's what we've got with these guys right now...and that's just the tip...are you concerned or interested in that at all?
