I take it you were not around during Viet Nam - The public reaction to the nightly news during that era is the reason we have the sanitized view today.   During that time, we saw blood, guts and carnage every night at 6 and 11 - yeah, war is hell - and seeing a dubious war played out in dying color every night is not what Dubya wants - It might make people think. 
So Bush has control of the media and what they play? I think not and yes I was around during Vietnam.  Give the people here some credit. They can connect the dots and figure out there is blood and carnage.

If you think Fox is balanced, why are the late night talk shows making jokes about "cheerleading" during Fox's war coverage ?
Because they like to make fun of everthing and for the most part they slant left. It still pisses em off that Fox slants right and it kicking CNN's ass in the ratings(especially the commie Ted Turner)

As far as the web goes, give us all a littile credit for being able to sort the wheat from the chaff - there is a lot of crap out there, but there is also a prepondeance of valuable, credible, and vetted information on the web that we sure as hell aren't getting stateside. 
Go ahead and sort the wheat. Good luck separating the fact from fiction

And just to piss you off that much more, Al-Jazeera's english site will be back up soon, with enough mirrors to make it hack proof.
