The majority of my sixth graders have television sets in their bedrooms. Many of these children also have unrestricted access to the Internet (also in their bedrooms). And don't get me started on the amount of time young boys spend playing violent video games. I remember one student telling me that he and dad had watched Scarface together. And it surely wasn't the Paul Muni version.I have a class full of students who haven't mastered their multiplication tables, and are unable to put together a coherent paragraph. It's apparent that children are not a priority to many parents. It's going to be a long year!Peter T.
