Personally, I think that an artist ( musician ) is better off with a small but dedicated group of fans vs. "The Big Time" as long as it provides a comfortable living.

a. It allows you to remain true to yourself and your art

b. It keeps the interaction down to an intimate level and allows for more personal face time with your fanship

c. It allows more control over how you go to market

d. It allows for more privacy when you go out for dinner

I think anyone who can eek out a living doing what they love is very blessed.

...but that's just me.
