Just got off the phone with a friend who's close to many people in Karachi, and getting updates from
the ground... Lots of fires and explosions... Elections will be postponed... Probably a call for martial
law. Everybody's blaming the shari'a Muslims, so Musharraf is not considered a suspect. Quite a bit of
confusion as to the sequence of events; in Rawalpindi, theyre saying that there was a bomb, then the
shooting, but the Western press reports the opposite. Army's in the streets, crowds going mad. And Pakistan is a nuclear power.
