For those who didn't take the bait in my Airstream post above, this album includes a song that is important to this discussion. I am grateful that David wrote this song and included it on Airstream. You see, he has developed somewhat of a reputation as leaning slightly toward the contemporary Christian folk genre, at least, those of that bent want to see him that way. I am grateful to know that he has seen what I have seen.

So, here is my example for why I am not so proud right now, since 9/11 this government and people like Pat and Dale and Rush and Bill'O have spent a lot of energy making a portion of this country afraid, afraid to speak truth to power, afraid to divulge that they are thinking beyond the soundbyte. They have tried to make us feel less then and they have made the working class less then. But, people are coming out of the cloud and realizing that the pilot is on a dastardly mission.

At the same time, they use issues of faith and family values to lead these people toward a path that is against their own interest. Bait and switch, as David mentions above.

A nation shall be judged by the way it treats the least among them.

I'm so proud that we have a president who has never attended a military funeral. I'm proud that we have a president who refused counsel from those with experience and knowledge who KNEW what we were getting into in Iraq. I'm proud that we have a president who appointed 105 Oil Company cronies to look after our interests. I'm proud that we went before the U.N. with a false dog & pony show to convince them that we needed to go to Iraq.

I could go on but I gotta be somewhere...

It's the people who question and challenge that make change.
