While I do think the Republicans helped elevate both Obama and Clinton for their own purposes from what I have read the Democrats did in Edwards for their own reasons. His populist talk, help the poor, and put some restrictions on the unchecked greed and corporate corruption stuff was not the message they wanted from their candidate. The more serious he got about it the less they wanted him around. See poor people don't elect people or really have much say in anything...it is the greedy and corporate corrupt with their lobbyists that get things done and keep you in office. Oh yeah, and his wife has cancer. Best if all the poor people get a job or die...on that I think they've got some consensus among the parties.
