You guys are good!  The song from the Crossing Guard I just sort of made up on the spot--it goes, "I was born a cowboy, and a cowboy I will die, I was born a cowboy and I'll die. And I will die before my time, because my kind, they always do. I was born a cowboy, and I'll die."  Kind of a nifty simplicity, don't you think? Though a bit chilling in light of what followed, death-wise.   It was shot in my old apartment in Venice.  Dave Ricketts was there, and a whole passel of my wilder friends.  A guy who was sitting right across from me was a convicted killer; a hit man for I think the Gottis.  Apparently he killed a New York judge with a blowtorch at some point. I didnt really know him.  He was the brother of a friend of a friend of mine.  But he and I got into a passionate debate about God.  He seemed to feel God was most likely a heavyset and ruthless man with a gun. Probably in a jogging suit with a lot of cologne and some gold chains.  I told him he was an asshole, and only realised later about his violent habits, as they might possibly pertain to me. Later on he loaned me a book he thought I might like.  His brother told me that "Al" (the hit man) really thought I was cool.  "oh good", I remember thinking glumly.  Well, I take my fans where I find em. The Pledge, on the other hand was  when I met Hans Zimmer and Klaus Badelt, and the idea of taking film-scoring seriously first occurred to me, as they clearly were having a lot of fun.  That's a good score, too... You should check it out.  Terrible vocal on that song, though, as I recall.  Until I saw the movie, I thought they were using the NFU version.  I thought the one they used was kind of fussy and precious and had a terrible vocal, but WTH?
