No, but most couples I know think and act a lot alike.

I understand what you mean, but I think that's a strong generalization.  I say and do a LOT of things that my wife does not agree with philosphically, and in some cases she barely even condones it.  I know a lot of other couples who are almost Carville/Matalin in their respective ideologies.  We've had a president for over 7 years with a wife that has barely registered a public brainwave when it comes to politics.  Barbara Bush was not much better.  I'm not saying that every first lady needs to be an activist, but they shouldn't have to pretend they don't have an opinion about the direction our country is headed, and my personal opinion is that they shouldn't always have to publicly agree with their husband.

Using Michelle's criticism of our government as an indictment of Barack's patriotism is a big stretch, and I think it's a big boogey-man hunt by the right.  One could twist a few things that Bill has said to paint Hillary as anti-America (or at least anti-family), and McCain's wife brings a lot of baggage to the table too.  She won't release her tax returns!!!  That rich, elitist b*tch!!!  She's unAmerican!!!

I'd much prefer to talk about real issues and things that affect the future of the country, our taxes, our educational system, and our environment.  Michelle Obama's rants affect none of these, in my opinion.
