The wife and I saw the Eagles last night--really good show, although mostly lacking in spontaneity. They did a broad spectrum of stuff, including 10 tunes from the newest album, and 4 (count 'em, 4) Joe Walsh solo songs. Rocky Mtn. Way, Life's Been Good, Walk Away, and Funk 49. No ILBT, sorry to dissapoint you Ed. Funk 49 was amazing, and Joe seemed to be really enjoying himself. I also thought he outplayed Steuart Smith most of the time.

These guys have stage professionalism down to a science. Every song, excluding the Walsh songs, were note for note replications of the original recordings, with the exception of a wah-wah driven slide guitar solo on "All She Wants to Do is Dance--one of 3 solo Henley songs. No solo Frey, imagine that....

If anyone is considering plunking down the $$$ for tickets, it's well worth it. They came on about 8:10 and closed out around 11:20 or so, with an intermission of 15 or 20 minutes.

There was an article in the local paper a few days ago about how they tour with over 80 guitars, including basses. Every single axe we saw on stage looked brand spankin' new, at least from what I could make out on the video displays. Joe had a really cool tortoise shell Gibson that he only used once.
