I know he's not to everyone's taste, but I was wondering if anyone else had given this a listen. TBone Burnett produced it, and the sound kind of harks back to "Big Daddy", with the lyrical themes of a guy who knows he's on the downward slope of life and is trying to make sense of it and sort of justify the idiocy of his younger days. My take, anyway.
Like most of the music on "Big Daddy", it's hard to imagine many of these songs in a live context mixed in with his hits of the 80's and strong songs of the 90's, but who knows.
I've also got the new Hold Steady on heavy rotation since getting it yesterday. Not a band I know a whole lot about, but they seem to be channeling Springsteen in Tom Waits' world.
