"Under the current definitions of 'terrorism' and eco-terrorism' and domestic terrorism', Edward Abbey's greatest novel "The Monkey Wrench Gang" could be considered a 'terrorist' manual: something akin to the "Anarchist's Cookbook"."

One rather large item that came out of 9/11/01 was the financial attachment to the word terrorism. Yes, people died but so did something that the living seem to attach a bit more value to.

I'm a small business owner and as such I have to be aware of and able to deal with a rather large amount of shit...and yes, shit is the right word. One funny thing is that each year when I sign my insurance renewal I have to also sign a piece of paper that states that I don't want insurance coverage for my business to cover "terrorist acts"...like a terrorist is going to want to come and blow up my little business. I understand what they (the insurance companies) are saying, basically that terrorism could strike anywhere at any moment and they don't want to have to pay you for that loss unless you pay them to cover that loss. Fair enough, but now "terrorism" technically means any financial loss that occurs due to an act of predetermined malfeasance. So if I fire some guy and he comes back and say, blows up a comapny vehicle because I fired him that could be called an act of terrorism and hence I am not covered for that. So, yeah, you are right the definition of terrorism has changed and not for the better but there seems to be a real thought process behind this and as usual it comes down to dollars and cents...not sense.

Now, if the guy came back and killed me and carved "asshole" in my chest they would not consider that terrorism they probably would just call it murder, as that is the side of the crime that would most interest people. Fucked up? Sure, but that is the way it is.
