Icon How about some humor - coming of age beer drinking story...

My Dad used to stop at this one tavern called Corbin's.

One time when I was about 16 and starting to experiment with beer, he picked up a six pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer to bring home to drink later. One night when he wasn't home I decided I wanted to drink a beer, but didn't want him to know I took one, so I took one from the back of the six pack plastic ring and opened it through the bottom with bottle opener. After draining out the beer, I then filled it with water, sealed the hole with duct tape and put it back in the holder.

Of course, after the initial buzz started I had to drink two more beers and again did the same thing. I thought maybe over a couple of days I'd remove the beer cans with water so he'd think maybe my Mom had a beer or something.

Before that happened he went to get a beer and got one of the water filled cans and when he opened it, he didn't hear the familiar gushing sound of a beer and started to cuss Corbin's for selling him flat beer. He also saw that something had leaked a bit in the refrigerator but didn't pay that much mind until he took out a second beer and noticed it wasn't all the way full. After he opened that one, not only did he again notice no sound of the beer being opened, but that this one also had leaked out. Again, he starts cussing the tavern for selling him both flat beer and cans of beer with leaks in them.

He then caught on after looking at the bottom of the can and seeing the square of duct tape on the bottom of the can. It didn't take him long to figure out who did what.

Even though Pabst tastes terrible, it was some of the best beer I ever drank.
