Hi Kevin,Haven't been on here that much but it is good to here from you.A couple of things I think about your response. To start with, drivers
that have been drinking alcohol are already illegal probably at least 95%
of the time. Unlike legal gun owners that almost always have said guns
locked up and safe and if they carry they can't drink alcohol and carry
in public. Also, I think it would be safe to say that somebody that is drunk on
alcohol and driving is in no position to save anyone else that is in
danger of another drunk driver. Wouldn't you agree? But what makes that
different is that a legal concealed carry person in a situation like
these mass shootings is in fact in a position to stop it. Wouldn't you
want that? These mass killers always have the same MO...they go to where
they know that NOBODY will be armed and schools are an excellent soft
target to them.Yes, I agree that we need to find a way to (what you might call common
sense gun laws and I do too) root out mental issues when people purchase
a gun. However, the signals are already sent that that is only a first
step by those that want these things. And that always leads to at first
outlawing things some feel are unnecessary and/or dangerous (AKA so
called "assault weapons"). Those weren't used in the latest shooting and
are used in less than 2% of homicides in America but people think nobody
should have one and want them outlawed. Most of or legislators don't
understand or know anything about guns other than they are scared of them
and they make bullshit laws to rid the country of them.Hillary mentioned the other day that we should be like Australia and
enact their gun laws. Well let me tell you that number one that was
almost a complete and total confiscation. Maybe you could have a shotgun
there if you can prove a need (and show a lot of paperwork) but otherwise
turn them all in. Hillary seems to forget too that Australia does not
have a second amendment from their founding fathers. Nevertheless her
intentions are clear. She wouldn't stop at "common sense" gun laws.
Nearly all democrats have the same idea and it to them is just a step by
step process. The long game if you will. All you need to do is look at
NYC or Chicago. Their gun violence is through the roof in spite of the
the harshest gun laws in the country. Criminals will disregard laws
because that is what they do. And by the way, a lot of those Australians
that were otherwise law abiding citizens before their new laws came into
effect suddenly became felons because they didn't turn those illegal guns
in. You just don't know where they put them but they do. It is not a
solution.
