Dan:I just got my first Mac about four months ago. Prior to that I
had been very involved with the Windows platform since the
very beginnings of that platform. (Windows 1.0) However, I would have to say that the UNIX-based OS X
operating system is much, much better than Windows. I have
not had the Mac crash once since I set it up on March 26,
2003. If I had been running Windows during that time, I would
not have been able to say that --- it would have crashed a few
times per week, just like it did in all the years I ran it.I ran pre-Windows 3.1 versions of the software --- in fact, I
was truly one of the very first people to run Windows of any
sort. Also, with OS X things are found where you think they might,
and not where they got shoved into Windows. There are
nothing such as DLL files, and there is never any need for
DEFRAGGING and even ANTI-VIRUS software. The OS X software is less structurally involved, which means
that program and file size are considerably smaller. OS X
(10.2) comes with DVD and CD-R BURNING native to the OS. There are no major security flaws like there are in Windows
--- all these viruses and worms are all Windows based.Dan, once upon a time I was a Windows snob also. But, once I
actually tried a Mac, there will be no turning back. P.S. - I am NOT a sheep --- I am a WOLF!P n' P = KDBNOTE: See the film TRAINING DAY for an explaination as to
why I make that distinction.
