If you watched the above CNN video, you too must be discouraged, to say the least. Putting this election
aside, going forward, how are we going to combat the laziness and willful ignorance of so many people?
Whether it's holocaust denial, the 911 Truth Movement, the chemtrail crowd, the anti-vaccers, the birthers,
and most importantly, the political confirmation bias crowd, we have literally millions of people who are
willingly duped for a variety of reasons. Before the Internet, it was hard for these folks to find each other. Now,
they're just a few keyboard taps away on the keyboard. I'd like to see a hell of a lot more coverage devoted to
exposing these lies and dangerous delusions. Some schools are making news literacy an important part of
their curriculum, but not nearly enough. PolitiFact analyses should run as Public Service Announcements.
Liars of all political stripes should be routinely exposed and shamed.
And don't get me started on the dangerous credulity of religious adherents.
Sure would be nice if Reg might chime in here (hint, hint).
