No doubt the Dems will probably impeach.  They would impeach for any reason.

This is actually not true at all. I think some Democrats wanted to impeach but most of them did not. I think most Democrats leaned toward the safest method for removing was through an election process. Impeachment is a huge gamble politically particularly in a case like Bill Clinton. The Republicans then misused the impeachment process and so it backfired to some degree because they were so obviously misusing the process. That was a true "witch hunt" whereas in Trump's case, this guy can't help but commit crimes because that's how he believes he should operate. So, I think you are completely wrong here, but if you are watching FOX news or other Right wing media, then that is something they keep repeating...but it is total nonsense...however, if you hear it over and over, well, people then tend to believe it.

Now, excluding the politicians, the elected officials, the people that work for the parties, I do believe that a lot of just regular people, the voters, they would like to see Trump impeached...that I think is true. I would like to see him impeached because it is just the right thing to do and my belief with anything involving government is that the last thing you want to do is set a bad precedent...because later other elected officials will follow that precedent. So, if you fail to use impeachment for what it was actually designed for, and in this case Trump has committed impeachable offenses, well, then you have undermined the value of impeachment. It was correctly used in the Nixon case and here we have a president doing the same thing Nixon did but on an international scale rather than just a break-in on American soil, so it should be used here.

The majority of elected Democrats kept pointing to the wrong impeachment process, Clinton's, as a reason not to do it...but that was a case of improperly using the process. They should have only looked at Nixon, as that case has relevance to the Trump case, they both involve election interference involving the president.

The senate, on the other hand, will not. That will not happen.

Truly, Pat, I was right with you on this for a long time. However, I think this has changed. Why did it change? Well, I think it changed because I think a lot of Republicans see Trump as the destroyer of their party. Trump has no allegiance to the Republicans and they know this. Hell, they know he has no allegiance to this country. Trump only has allegiance to himself...this is an obvious problem for them. So, what I think has happened here is the Republicans have told the Democrats, make the case for impeachment and we will vote it through in the Senate. I think there are attachments to that vote but the word is there are about 35 Republican senators that want to impeach Trump. They don't like him and they are tired of dealing with him. There are Republicans putting the word out that there are 30 plus Republican senators that want to vote for impeachment.

Paul Ryan had a closed door meeting with FOX news and told them be prepared, the Senate is going to support impeaching Trump, so have a strategy for this.

It helps too that the evidence in this case is so obvious and gigantic. So, this allows the Democrats to actually have a simple and strong case that people can understand and grasp. They don't have to read the Mueller report and understand what he was doing and why he did what he did. That was way too much info for most of the public. In this case, as one person said, "There is no connect the dots here, there is just one big dot."

There is little to explain, so people can just see the crime in this case. You can see that elected Republicans understand this in their behavior, they are not defending Trump, because they know they can't. So, pay attention in this case to what they are not saying. They are not saying that this one is all OK, they will say anything but that.
