I remember first hearing WTTB with my girlfriend at the time, Sally.... But anyway, the song, like any really good song, caught my ear immediately. There was something really special about what I was listening to. I remember waiting and waiting for the dj to tell me who it was because it didn't sound like anyone else I'd heard before. "David and David". At first I thought to myself, "Great. I finally hear a great song by someone new and they turn out to be another Duran Duran knockoff. (Get it? David & David - Duran Duran...) Anyway, Christmas rolls around and I've all but forgotten about that David & Duran band with the great song. Then I open a present from Sally. It's a copy of Boomtown. I gave her a proper "thank you honey" and continued unwrapping my usual socks and underwear.
I get home and put the album on. WOW. The whole thing blew me away. I'd never heard anything like it before or since. Without a doubt, one THE best albums ever. Not a weak song on it. This album has everything, a great voice, great musicians and great songwriting. It also came along at a very happy time in my life.
A special album that reminds me of a special girl.
