Well, I think this goes to how Trump and FOX clowns like Hannity and Carlson appeal to people. They are not making an intellectual pitch where they are appealing with facts and data, they are making an emotional pitch where the proposition they make is based upon what you feel and asking you to choose what you want to believe is more likely.
Human beings are typically walking contradictions and this is because we have the ability to operate on an intellectual level and an emotional one at the same time. Most political campaigns gave up long ago on appealing to people intellectually. They sell us the candidates on an emotional level. What Hannity and Carlson do every night is put forth false propositions that ask their audience to choose which idea makes them feel better...after years of telling them a whole lot of the same lies over and over and over so their bias runs against Democrats.
So, easy to get them to go with the idea that aligns with the thought that some Democrat is screwing them...even if there are no facts to support that or even if the facts point in the opposite direction.
When you chose something Trump or Hannity said over what a doctor said about something that the doctor obviously has the education and expertise to know a hell of a lot more about...that's an emotional choice, not one based on reason.
The other day I heard a recording of Kushner referring to scientists and doctors as "overly competent idiots" and it made me laugh because it is such a stupid statement. He went on to say that they had been pushed aside and Trump was in charge of the pandemic response and info being released to the public. Can you imagine Kushner going in to have surgery and saying "I don't want an overly competent doctor operating on me! Get me a guy with no medical experience to do it, like Donald Trump!"
Not likely.
