is there really any positive and worthwhile way to communicate with 74 million people that support Donald Trump?
Well, here's what I think, I think you can speak to a lot of Trump supporters IF you are someone that they care to listen to. Joe Biden will try to speak to Trump supporters but he is not going to reach them and he is not going to get through to them. He could do huge things for them and help them as the government has never helped them before and they would still despise him and would not trust him. It won't matter what he accomplishes and how many times his accomplishments are touted. Joe Biden is not going to matter to many of them and will never be someone they listen to.
We are at a point now where the Trump supporters are turning on any Republican that goes against Trump's coup attempt to declare himself emperor and dictator of this nation. When you see that, when you see politicians that did nothing but kiss Trump's ass but then drew the line at participating in a traitorous coup and just admitted we had a free and fair election and now are seen as "enemies" by the Trump cult...well, do not kid yourself that Joe Biden will get through to them.
The truth is he is not the man for the job. Biden needs to talk to the elected Republicans that do not support Trump's coup attempt and they need to try to speak to other elected Republicans and state elected Republicans who hopefully will attempt to get through to the Trump cult. If I were to give advice to Joe Biden and the top level of his administration it would be that they should not allow the word Trump to spill from their lips at all...ever. Just put your heads down and go to work attempting to fix the disaster he has created...you don't need to mention him we know who did it.
This is where our issue is, the people that need to help end the Trump cult and that need to speak to Trump cultists are the people that helped create the Trump cult in the first place.
I want to be with optimists like Heath and Ross that think as Trump's bid to turn the country into a dictatorship fails his support will ebb but...sadly...I do not think this will be that simple nor will it happen unless Trump is prosecuted and even better jailed or flees the country forever.
He has committed enough crimes that you can prosecute him, mainly the states should handle these prosecutions but where applicable to federal statutes the DOJ, FBI, and AG should proceed to press charges. It has to be demonstrated openly Trump is a criminal and outside of the 153 or so elected Republicans that will openly betray their country tomorrow, well, the rest of the Republicans should fully support Trump's prosecution.
This is not a great position to be in as we are relying on people like Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell to come to the aid of their country and we know their track record is to turn their back on their country every time they are faced with this. These are the guys Biden has to deal with though so, it is his challenge to get them onboard.
The point I am making here though is when the speaking to Trump cultists starts, you need the right people to be speaking to them. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris or top level administration people are not the people that will EVER get through to them. Trump cultists are already too far gone to hear them.
We need the voices they do listen to to get that job done.
So, who are those voices? This is where it gets very tricky. Those voices are Christian leaders and Right Wing media...TV, radio, and the internet outlets.
Think about that and who needs to convince those people to talk to the cultists. This is where you begin to see the difficulty in the task. The people that worked for decades to divide the country are the ones you need to put down an attempt to turn this country into a Russian, North Korean, or South American style dictatorship.
Is it impossible? No, we see flashes on FOX News of them telling their viewers the truth. They were the first to declare Trump a loser in this election I believe.
Hannity has openly said he will say whatever makes him money and keeps him on the air. He does not care about anybody but himself so he could be convinced by the people that pay him some $40 million a year to tell the truth. Tucker Carlson as well. It's about the money to these guys after all not loyalty to any side or cause. So, for guys like this you can buy them and get them to tell the truth.
The fly in the ointment is Trump himself because he is not going to go away and his move out of the White House will be to every TV screen he can get himself on, every radio, every internet outlet he can lie from. He will work to destroy everything, Republicans, Democrats, this country to prove he still has power. He's got the full backing of guys like Putin, MBS, and every bad actor that wants to take down this country. So, he will be a formidable foe and he has at least 13 senators and 140 congressman in his pocket to start. He's got Newsmax and One America Network and plenty of places to make noise.
Biden's task will be to work with the Republicans that do not betray their country tomorrow to get them to mute the 153 that will stick with Trump. It is these Republicans that can end the effort to destroy this country and in doing so salvage whatever is left of their own party. The Republican party has been destroyed by Trump and the 153 Republicans (who hilariously have chosen Ted Cruz to be their leader, how pathetic) who betray their country tomorrow will or could cause the party to split. Which would give us a three rather than two party system.
We would have the McConnell led party, the Trump cult, and the Democrats.
This would be interesting and maybe a cure. McConnell would never again control the senate. The Trump Cult could not control the Senate because they would start with probably only 13 senators that would move from Republican to the New Cult party. The house would remain the Democrats because the Republicans would be destroyed by 140 or so members leaving the party to join the New Cult...probably led by those idiots Nunes and Jordan.
Democrats would hold majorities in both the Senate and House and probably would then need to bargain with both McConnell's smaller Republican party and the New Cult party to form majorities to get things passed. So Democrats would have an upper hand and bargains would like then get struck either with the old GOP wing or the New Cult wing who don't believe in anything at any given moment.
Maybe there is optimism in that...
