Icon Here's what baffles me about the protests....

Since I am in Illinois, I don't know how the local media and politicians commented about the riot parts of the protests in their neck of the woods, but what I can suggest is that I do not know where this concept of Democrats and Liberals did not denounce the violent parts comes from.

From all the national Democrats I observed, each of them denounced the rioting parts of the protests but for some reason were framed in a manner of they did not care or were promoting the upheavals.

At the same time, though, I don't think White America still gets some of the basic tenets of BLM or what they are protesting.  Yes, with all movements there are extreme factions, but to me, the main point of this group is only to point out that, yes, Black lives do matter and currently in America it still does not seem that they do.

Take the Derek Chauvin trial - in White America and policing you can find many that are still not critical of what happened and try to excuse it, largely by suggesting it was Floyd's health and drug use that killed him.  I look at it and wonder how can anyone defend it, especially the police, because in all of my training - starting in 1993 - we were trained to STAY AWAY from the neck UNLESS it was a deadly force incident (we police were always trained anything goes if it is a true deadly force incident). I am not aware of ANY legitimate training that suggests it is okay to kneel on one's neck as due course.   Even in baton training, it was emphasized to stay away from the neck and head unless it was a deadly force situation.  On top of that, in on the ground handcuffing techniques, it was also emphasized to be wary of placing one's knee on the neck when trying to handcuff.

But back to the original point of the OP - what I saw with the Black motorist was instant condemnation by the right and a very quick attempt to tie this man to Muslims and all the other radical groups while these same people have been either silent or very, very tepid in their Jan 6 condemnations.

Not only this, while early on, the Right is also ignoring the mental health aspect of this man while usually in other mass shootings they are quick to latch on to that as an excuse for mass shootings or killings.

Sadly, too often right is right and wrong is wrong, and criticism is certainly influenced by who's team it is, but at the end of the day, I seriously believe the Right is much, much slower - if it even happens - to criticize their own "team" (and this is proven right now as we watch the Matt Gaetz scandal and see the lack of Right-wing criticism or demand for his resignation - one funny thing, though, someone pointed out that what is being revealed about Gaetz is what the Right wanted to hear about Hunter Biden).
