I've listened to this podcast at least three times because there is so much valuable information to absorb.
In it, Sam Harris touches upon race, intraracial violence, policing, the prevalence of guns in America and the role that they play in the minds of police, the perils of going hands-on with suspects, media bias, Harvard professor Roland Fyer's studies on crime, and a host of other essential information.
People of good faith should be able to discuss these matters without name-calling, labelling, or questioning the motives of the the other person. Too much is riding on solving this most divisive issue. Sam Harris clearly states that what he is saying is placing him in a minefield. A minefield into which few public figures will willingly enter.
I know this is a lengthy piece by Sam but if you care a lot about this issue, you really should listen. And if you disagree with anything, fine, let's talk, and examine each other's views. Isn't it about getting to the truth, and finding a just solution?
Note: the best stuff is in the second-half but it's all excellent.
