I was just going to ask you about some things that were just sort of check-in questions on where you were at.
Like, do you feel the same about Trump now as when you voted for him or have your feelings changed and do you have any regrets over voting for him now?
I had believed for a long time that the country was sliding to being more liberal, at least on social issues, but now I think with this nonsense culture war which has become the focus of the Republicans, well, we are drifting ever further to the right now.
Creating a culture war was a winner for Republicans, it has sucked so many people into it that we are now becoming a more intolerant society. I think it has been so effective because people just don't grasp the larger issues, economic, environmental, energy problems but they completely feel they understand these dumb culture war items. So, they will discuss those at length because they feel they are simple and an attack on their free speech, or how they want to raise their kids, or what a comedian can make a joke about.
This is now the entire Republican agenda. They have no more interest in anything else. They are going to take back the House and Senate on that and likely the presidency as well. Then they will attempt to continue down the road to full on fascism unimpeded and we will cease to be a democracy. Which, seems to be becoming the preferred way to go for most of the country. So, not sure we can stop that now.
I am guessing you likely don't see it that way, Marc, but this is the direction we are trending.
The most glaring indication of this are more people are registering as Independents or Republicans than as Democrats. On the whole the Democrats are about 10% behind them in new registrations. In other words, the country, seems to be rejecting the Democrats. Democrats are rejecting Democrats.
I'll admit, I have been less than thrilled with the Democratic party for years now but I also feel they have been the only party that gets anything done or even tries to. The Republicans have been useless for decades now and they have topped it off with becoming the party of absolutely crazy lies and dishonesty.
I'm surprised that 5% of the newly registered voters prefer that to Democrats but again, they found a winning formula with the culture wars they have invented.
