Agree that they are like cult members.  Perhaps something worthwhile for Dems to think about is, "how did that happen?"  Obviously, some right-wing media is part of that, but is there something deeper?  Is there a real sense of marginalization that has contributed to this?  I think there is, and the hard push for "some" left-wing ideas that really run counter to a lot of historical American culture could well be part of that.  And part is the right finding those as successful wedge issues.  

In summary, the Left might want to cool down on the "you are privileged no matter what if you're white" kind of things. As someone who grew up both poor and white (and in a VERY minority religion hence way OUT of the power structure) . . . it is WAY more complex than that.  That kind of divisiveness isn't needed and isn't helpful.
