Well, obviously I want to allow David to respond to you but as we have been having a discussion here I want to add something here.
I know, or at least believe I understand, that you seem to be primarily talking about voters, people that live near you in Houston, and your experience with them. Which is fine, but, here is the issue with the Republican party...once they threw in behind Trump, the party (not individual voters, I mean elected officials and people that run the party) vacated and burned down completely any claims to having any kind of moral stand on anything.
It's not really that I disagree with you, it is not that I take issue with you and want to fold you in with any of these elected Republicans and party leaders, it is that they determine what the party stands for and what direction they are moving in...and they have clearly and without question made it clear they don't believe in things like morals, ethics, or any kind of family values. Hell, they have made clear they do not believe in any sort of democracy at all. That's demonstrably true.
Which is why I think David asked the question. It is hard to comprehend that someone that supports the Republican party does so with a belief that they are supporting some form of morality. I mean, sure, voters, people that call themselves Republicans, likely continue to have their own moral outlooks on things but the Republican party appears not to give a hoot about that.
The book banning, shrinking of people's rights, demonization of educators, demonization of doctors, undermining of science, undermining our electoral system, encouragement of violence, and spending over $55 million to attack children that are dealing with gender issues is...well...hideous and vile. Hard to find the morality in that.
