Do the present day, morally pure, exquisitely just and righteous and enlightened cancellers of those from the past not realize that if they were in an earlier era, they too would surely hold views that we now consider repugnant? If I was born one hundred years earlier, I'd probably grow up to be a racist, homophobic, misogynistic asshole. Granted,  there would be no Fox News to fan the flames, but the local church would work.
