Yes, cops do respect when a turd in need of an adjustment takes it with an "I got what I deserved" mindset.
Luckily, for me, believe it or not, at the start of my time, I learned very early on that the mouth could be our greatest or worse tool and grew quite apt in being able to talk to about anyone and prevent the need for that sort of adjustment (though I have to admit, there were many I would have loved to have tried to get them to read a New York telephone book via ESP aside the skull).
A true story - while I did carry a nightstick, the only time I used it on a person was to knock a large knife out of the hand of a young lady that was going to stab another lady over a man and this was as a rookie. I never had to use it to strike a person and I have always been grateful for that - and proud of it because I learned how important the brain and mouth are when dealing with people.
Mick, on the other hand, well, that's a different story......I think we all know what he is capable of and in need of...............(my Messybear added line here ------------- MORE COWBELL!).
