The longer one poses as something the better one becomes at it and the more convincing and real the pose. Until it isn't a pose anymore and is one's true actual belief.
look at me for example I actually think I am a hobbit now. All I want to do is drink ale and dance on table tops and laughs at people who take themselves seriously. Now I can't stop doing that. Anytime anyone tried to expose fraudulent politicians I respond 'you mean at one point they weren't actually a fraud'.
