I know exactly what the play is David and I know why.
I believe the play is chaos, which is always built in to what MAGA idiots like Gaetz do, and basically to get himself on TV and get attention. McCarthy negotiated this when he let the MAGA clowns change the rules so only 1 of them had to bring a motion to vacate the Speaker position. Unless you live in a closet it was obvious, it was only a matter of time before one of them did and if you were a betting man, well, your money would have been on Sleazy Matt Gaetz.
I mean, what do you think the "play" is here, Pat? All doing this would do is throw the House into chaos and the Republican party into turmoil. It gives Matt Gaetz a lot of opportunity to get his face on the tube and say incredibly stupid stuff. It's just destruction for destructions sake.
If you ask the question "Who benefits from this?" it is not the American people, it is not Republicans, it is not creating a better country ir government. The Democrats benefit, or can, because the Republican party look like a clown show, people like Putin and other entities that are against the United States benefit, because MAGA once again makes us look foolish and weakens the country.
I don't know who Matt Gaetz really works for but clearly it is not for this country, for the state of Florida, for Republicans, he appears to either want to help the Democrats or enemies of the United States.
So, I mean, what play do you see here? Gaetz has struck what could be a death blow for the Republican party with this because it is tearing them apart. Could be the beginning of the end for them, where the split in the party happens and we get MAGA vs the rest of the GOP...or whatever that becomes. They obviously can't co-exist because all MAGA does is threaten and create problems for Republicans.
What the play looks like to me is, make participating in government so pointless and horrible that no good, decent, intelligent people will want to do so. So, scum like Trump, Gaetz, Marge Greene, Tuberville, Comer, Jordan are the kind of lowlifes we end up with. I don't see much more of a play than that.
