Thanks David, I appreciate the points you're making. I don't want to appear anti-Israeli and I want to distinguish between Netanyahu who I think is pretty much as right wing and fascistic as it tolerable in western circles and Israeli people who are full of grief and despair about how this happened to their loved ones.
I don't feel comfortable with what Jewish people in the UK are now having to put up with whether it is feeling intimidated by these marches or indeed having the right wing hooligans being apparently the ones who are aligned with them politically. I don't even speak about this stuff with the few people I know as I think they feel very uncomfortable about it.
I appreciate that democracy is fragile over there where it isn't over here in Europe.
I don't even know how comfortable the IDF is in being asked to point their tanks at hospitals and shoot knowing they may kill a Hamas terrorist but take out a few children and babies at the same time. It is turning them into monsters and the screams and cries of innocent people will probably haunt them forever. But I don't hate them for what they have to do. maybe it can be justified based upon what happened 80 years ago or 2,000years ago. I know you are just giving me a context for how a nation has to remember its past to survive in the present.
The amount if times I've had to hear people talk about the Irish famine of the 1850's and use it to justify an ongoing irrational hatred and fear of their closest neighbours. It's holding people back now.
Hamas is a blight but how it is being destroyed...Biden I think would gain more respect if he was more compelling in his expectations of staying within certain parameters. Not just for the next election but the one after that too. He can't just be situational all the time. Democrats have to be strategic or else we'll all be slowly evolving into a Chinese or Russian system of governance. I'm even seeing Assad looking like he's been reintegrated into statesmanship.
I hate seeing kids being killed. Anyone's. It sickens me.
