In Northern Ireland, both Catholics and protestants in their political persuasions were sucked into the bigger project of the European Union, which made it easier to find a better power balance between them as communities. Now, ironically most nationalist in Ireland, prefer the concept of being European then Irish so aren’t really that bothered about United Ireland. in a pretty imminent period of time, Irish nationalist in Northern Ireland will be the majority bigger than unionists. What matters more of them is being European.
there’s no EU coming along to smooth over the Middle East. Make Gaza part of Egypt? Give Egypt responsibility for it?
