No, no, Mason, one can definitely die from Datura poisoning.  I think the main reason is anticholinergic toxicity similar to Belladonna, and deadly Nightshade.  If you block Acetylcholine, it causes neuromuscular paralysis, you get paralyzed and can stop breathing.  This is similar to Botulinim toxicity.  Of course, depends on how much is ingested.  Obviously with milder overdose, one just gets the hallucinosis and delirium, which apparently some misguided individuals go out in search of.   I can send you more info if you're interested.
