The MAGA cult has a menu of options ready to overtake the government. In a GA CD14 Catoosa County GA in far NW Georgia (it borders Tennessee & extremely red), the local Republican committee was told by a court that they HAD to qualify 4 people as candidates who they had refused to put on the ballot. It seems the 4 hopeful candidates weren't Republican enough and declined to sign a loyalty oath. Now those 4 will be qualified to be on the ballot for the primary election in May. So, there's a second way to take over the government: just refuse to qualify candidates Republican committees  don't want to take a chance on getting elected. That way only "your people" get elected.

Over across Georgia, in Oconee County which is a bedroom county to the University of Georgia, the cultists are using a 3rd method: just run republicans in the Democratic primary as Democrats. The local democratic committee reported in a meeting I was in last night that the Election Supervisor qualified 3 Republican candidates to be on the Democratic primary ballot. Let me interject here and say that the 159 counties in GA are all allowed to decided how they want to run qualifying of candidates. So in Catoosa County, local Democratic and Republican committees qualify candidates. In Oconee County on the other hand, the Election Supervisor (ES) qualifies candidates. I wouldn't be surprised if this ES was a Republican, btw. The 3 candidates that were qualified for the Democratic ticket included 2 Moms for Liberty running for school board positions and 1 conservative running for another position. In a really red county, like many in Georgia, if this happens when a Democrat is on the primary ballot as well, the conservative, non-Democrat will probably win primary. That way there would be 2 Republicans in the General Election. That would go a long way toward continuing to take over local governments by MAGA types.

What this means is that we need to be even more vigilant. We need to make sure we get dissatisfied,  infrequent/newly registered voters out to vote AND show them why Dems are the way to go if they want to see policies and programs that will benefit them and move them forward. That includes making sure that we get POC, Latinos, young voters, newly registered voters out to vote by educating them on the ways voting can help them and why voting is such a vital civic duty.
