I fear in the US that we have a truly frightening and still emerging culture that has been quickly consuming any semblance of a culture of deep thought and all aspects of deep thought. And, while it has been going on for some time, it has especially escalated during the emergence of the MAGA Cult phenomenon and it scares the shit out of me and reveals one question that I am not seeing addressed anywhere and that is,

With all we know now in the US, how the fuck is this country a 50/50 country when it comes to our politics and political governance?

We are living in a time, especially this almost past decade, that is revealing so many troubling things about our society that long term, I seriously doubt it will remain a respected and viable world power for the entire nation it purports to represent - the upper class will always be fine, it's the hundred of millions of us that will suffer.

And when I ask this particular question, I'm not talking just about the obvious on the surface things, but all through our society.  For example, a while back I brought up Emile Durkheim and his finding that a successful society needs a strong collective belief in things of right and wrong. What we have been seeing in real time these past years shows that that is not present in American society and powerfully so.  For example, when a nation has half of a voting population that has no issue with Jan 6, or how a black man was killed by a cop's knee, or what just happened at Arlington, it shows there is a major disconnect in what Americans see as a healthy society.

When moral depravity that should offend all, is excused by half, shows just how far this country has sunk (Shit, recall, just back in the 80s, for a presidential candidate to admit to toking on a joint met instant disqualification!).

Then, on top of this, those of us who are sincere in our political observations know that Donald Trump is only a grifting shell.  There is nothing authentic about him or his character - in fact, he is the perfect symbol for American Grift and Scam.  He backstabs his biggest supporters, is a fake and fraud, and so on and on.  To cap off my points, just look at how the Religious Right has placed this immoral man upon on a pedestal and crowned him a god. THAT alone shows the US is nothing like what Emile Durkheim found to be needed to be sustained in a well-functioning society.

So, this gets to my larger point of the question no one is asking - HOW is this country 50/50? HOW?!?  When healthcare for so many is unaffordable and bankrupts so many, where corporations have become the best economic pickpockets and legally so, or even how a handful of corporations control most of our food supply and are now being caught for price gouging, or a single mother who must work two and three jobs to make ends meet.  And yes, I know people will throw out all sorts of excuses - it's sexism, it's racism, it's a biased media, it's a corrupt government, blah, blah, blah.  And that is not what I'm really after. 

I want to know, in a nation of 300 million plus, where the greatest majority do not live in this American fantasy created by those who make the rules, how is this country 50/50 and why the fuck aren't those that could make a difference, asking this question and with great thought and examination?
