I think if you look at activists and organizers and other anti-MAGAt people-both republicans and democrats-today though, you’ll actually find that there is a movement to not feed into or even worry much about what trump and his ilk SAY they’re going to do.

We did that in Trump 1.0 and it got us nowhere but it sure did raise people’s blood pressure and then, yes, the MAGAts can turn all of it into culture wars. What I’ve seen is legacy media and cable news outlets continuing to do exactly what you’re saying. Many of the most politically involved people, and I mean leaders and just run of the mill everyday people who might go to democratic county committee events, they’ve pretty much taken a stand of not watching cable news and dropping legacy media subscriptions precisely because they don’t like how they’ve been coverage political news.

People are working in their communities to make sure their like minded neighbors are safe and are planning what to do to keep marginalized neighbors safe no matter what awful things trump 2.0 does. If trump starts deporting families because 1 family member doesn’t have documents, then plans have been developed during this time about what to do to keep their neighbors safe, BUT not getting all drawn into the rhetoric that’s coming from the PEOTUS. When the MAGA government actually does something THEN it should be concentrated on but not before.  Trump uses all of the confusion about what he’s going to do into a weapon. I’ve taken the power away from his weapon: I don’t watch the news. I get news from a list of podcasts and people I trust to provide the truth about what’s going on and what I need to worry about at even given time. I’m not falling for the trump 1.0 trick of Gish galloping a firehose of awful plans. When something is being implemented, THEN I’ll worry about it and will start the plans we developed in this valuable interim between election and inauguration to assist my community.

One last thing…I’ve heard pundits saying Dems didn’t talk about food prices or not being able to afford necessities or those “kitchen table issues” and that is just fucking bullshit. I saw VP Harris in person 3 times (only shook her hand once though!), saw Gov Walz and Doug Emhoff and a bazillion other speakers at those events and candidates, especially VP Harris, talked about all of those topics. I still contend a large reason she lost is because of systemic patriarchy and racism.
