To me, one huge revelation about presidential elections this time around is just what you suggested: we learned that the US population is willing to elect a male POC, but not willing to do so for a female POC.

Oddly, one of my political neophyte relatives made this comment as soon as Harris entered - that she would not win because she was a black woman.   Frankly, I don't think ANY Democrat could have beaten Trump if a similar campaign had been run and by that, I mean this - to me, the Democratic Party was doomed because of its lack of inflation solutions and immigration.  I think the Democratic Party put all their eggs in the "things are improving basket" and then did little that resonated with the American people.

As for immigration, I don't think the Republicans really want to solve it (I also don't know if anyone really has good ideas how to solve it) - it is too good of a weapon.

However, I think the biggest question Dems MUST answer is how in the hell did the most ugly politician in all aspects become president - again.  And I do not feel Democrats are willing to drill deep down into that simple question.

And here is another example of Democrats continuing to go down their path of not appearing to be willing to fight for much - in the left media it was reported that Chuck Schumer let ten unconfirmed Federal judges on the table before releasing the Senate. Now, to be honest, I don't know what the reason for this was or if he even knew too many Dem senators would be gone to vote and it was futile.  However, and this is a big however, this is just another example of why the fuck should working Democrats - regular people - have any faith in Washington Democrats to fight for us when Schumer allowed this? Or throw in what Pelosi just did to AOC.

These are just other examples of how Dems are seen as wilting combatants who fold for anything or fight to maintain their losing record.

Lastly, I just read David Reminck's essay in the Nov 18 New Yorker (and highly recommend it), who points out that even back in 2016 after Trump's first win, Obama wondered if he had peaked too early and maybe people just wanted to return to their "tribe."

Believe me - I have absolutely few answers or solutions.  I don't understand this country anymore. I don't understand the appeal of such a horrible person to anyone and especially the crowd that claims to be morally superior and so "religious."

I mean, right now, we have a Supreme Court that is so corrupt it won't even follow one of the most clear amendments to the US Constitution regarding the separation of church and state.  How the fuck can an amendment be any clearer than how that one is written? And it is the NUMBER ONE most important amendment!

I am hoping that the emergence of Blue Sky will be a predictor of future successes for Dems, but I don't know. Also, I am hoping something comes with Costco's recent refusal to limit inclusion that will lead other companies and businesses to claim they are good places for Dems and the Blue to shop, but that leads me to another issue: how is that we Dems can't get away with the same shit that Michael Jordan was able to when he stated Republicans bought shoes too (in the desire for him to endorse Harvey Gantt versus Jesse Helms back in the 90s that was his rationale for not doing so).

Andi, we are so lucky and fortunate to have tireless people like you.  We really are.
