So, the ladies in the house and word of mouth convinced me to watch The Penguin and it is a very well done show, but what is so remarkable is Coin Farrell's portrayal of this character.

Now, I'm not a huge fan of actor's and prosthetics at all.  Frankly, it irks me when actor's get kudos out the ass for "ugling-up" themselves and too often, it is the prosthetics that do the acting and not the actor.

When this happens, my brain loves to try and decipher the tells and micro-tics that reveal the actor under the prosthetics.  Usually, these easily and quickly are good ways to tell the difference between good, poor and superior acting (I think in some ways, this is why some true actors avoid interviews because in them, their tells and tics get revealed).

I bring all this up because Colin Farrell is showing what a great actor he has become. I'm watching his portrayal and rarely do I see any physical tells or tics that reveal himself and the only thing I have been able to pick up on has been very short lines of dialog where his mechanics of speaking reveal it is Farrell in this role.  These lines most often are very short and come in a burst.

But somehow, he has done a fabulous job of hiding how he tilts his head when speaking or jerks it to one side and the like.  And of course, his cocky walk is absent due to Penguin's disabilities.

And who doesn't love a show with Clancy Brown in it?
