I actually had the privilege of literally dragging Joe through the mud. With fishing line attached to his belt, I think. A friend of mine was directing Joe in a video for (I think) his first record out in the Mojave desert. It was a strange weekend, and it ended with me wrestling my friend the director in the back of his truck, trying to get an M1 carbine away from him before he ran around the corner to shoot a dog that had been hit by a car. A: I didnt think he should shoot the dog, as although the dog had been severely injured, we couldnt be sure that it was fatally so, and B: because unbeknownst to my friend, a Highway Patrolman was standing over the dog trying to figure out what to do. I thought he might look askance at a leather coated man running towards him with a semiautomatic rifle and that some kind of trouble could possibly ensue. But Joe was nothing but a gentleman, and was very charismatic as well, even with mud spurting over his shoulders and into his teeth. Sometimes that brings out the best in people. He's also becoming a genuinely great record producer.

I still havent dared go through my email, but I'll have time tomorrow night, so wish me luck.

Yrs,

David
