Eugene,
Nothing to forgive my friend. This is a place where we can be freewheeling with our thoughts. Mr. Baerwald's post on free speech seems to promote this idea. I think Mr. Golding has his head up his ass in some respects. I don't think this country's universities are the last bastions of free speech and intellectual discourse. I think he probably discussed his book with a bunch of similarly inclined cronies and came up with that hogwash but I enjoyed reading it none the less. I would rather have heard what you thought at the moment anyway. No harm in being honest. I think if you are going to express something doing it with a little gusto is the best way to go. It's more entertaining and will generate more of a response from people. Being bland is just plain boring. Unless, of course, you happen to be Bobby Bland, then I'd say it's pretty funky.
One small Gord note. I have relatives from Canada and it never failed that at family get togethers someone would pick up a guitar and start strumming out some tunes. "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald" was always included. I've hear that song many times over the years.
As for Mr. Baerwald, he sounds as bad as the Boogieman. Can this guy go anywhere without getting into trouble? Although my run in with a knife wielding maniac left me a permanent souvenir. Actually Gene, your story about the psychotic beauty sounds like it is well worth exploring. Anymore on this?
