: If you ignore that the FLA Supreme Court bend a rule that was bent back by the US Supreme. As far as I understand it, a candidate can't keep changing the goalposts if he thinks he'll loose.

Alan Dershowitz wrote a book about this called "Supreme Injustice."

: (I heard Katherine Harris say that if he'd of waited for the wheels to turn, a statewide recount could have occured...thus ensuring a Gore win)
Fascinating, when did she say that?

: Errrm, there were about half a dozen other states that the Repubs could have bought into play and potentially trounced Al Gore.

"bought into play" Interesting typo, or was it intentional?

Perhaps fortunately for us Floridians this debacle happened here for it not only showed how poor our poling was but all the other voter's rights infractions. Such as road blocks in northern Florida, people who had registered but hadn't made it onto the list so weren't allowed to vote, not enough poling places so that some places were so crowded it took hours to vote (alot of them gave up when they heard that Gore had won), boxes of votes that were opened so that they could cram more votes in, boxes that disappeared for a while, people who asked for help but were turned away, absentee ballots that were tampered with, etc. Not to mention the Republican harrasement of the vote recounters.
So, the Fla govenment is spending millions of dollars to try and update the voting apparatus, make sure the next election is as mistake free as possible (no hanging chads, etc.)
Oh, and of course our governor is Pres. Bush's little brother Jeb.
