Icon media 60s/70s vs now

In the 60s and 70s (and 80s and most of the 90s) we had a national news operation that was trusted by a majority of Americans. The national news readers were trust worthy. Sure, they were also selling cereal and beer and cars but the news was generally accepted as unbiased and true. Now, that's not the case. The 24 news cycle that has a BREAKING NEWS interruption every hour - social media as a news source - partisan outlets - information overload. If you do as you mentioned and show the images after tomorrow's school shooting - most won't believe it. Some will but will scroll to the next story in a few seconds. And some will not only not believe it but will call the victims actors and post their images all over the internet as proof. We're past your suggestion I fear. Or am I being too jaded?

What's a solution then? Blow up your TV.
