Not too long ago..in my "young" lifetime, anyways, Homosexuality was listed as a "diagnosis" for an abnormal, but not necessarily pathological behavior in the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, used by Psychiatrists); I think earlier it was, in fact a formal diagnostic category, signifying what, I'm not sure.

I am not liberal, pro-gay, con-gay or another label (I hope).  I believe that what consenting adults do sexually with each other should be private, and remain private.  However, if 2 people love and care about each other, enough to want to enter a state of MARRIAGE (and personally I don't recommend this very often for heterosexuals, never mind homosexuals), with all of the ups and downs of that commitment, I wonder if they should not be entitled to whatever benefits, legal protection, etc..that are afforded by being married, irregardless of their sex.  This includes the fallout as well.  Divorce, property settlements, palimony, child support, will all be issues to be dealt with should such marriage be dissolved, and that reality will be part of the equation as this issue further unfolds..and it will, as more states will one by one have to take a stance.
