I'm don't want to make excuses for K. Harris, she was WRONG WRONG WRONG...but she also publicly acknowledged that. By her account, she was not an elected official and she was unaware that the law that she "bent" pertained to appointed officals as well as elected ones. It might have been a simple mistake. You're right of course, she should have known better given her position. Maybe she's just another sleezebag poli, I dunno. I do know that I thought it was mighty suspiscious looking too. But really, this thing in NJ goes WAY beyond that incident IMO.
On the issue of the Federal Supreme Court riding in to save the day in NJ, I think it's doubtful. Democrats are convinced it will be a repeat of the Florida fiasco reminding everyone that the Fed Supremes cannot interpret state law, which is absolutely true. However, the Florida situation WAS valid because the Fed court was ruling on a presidental election issue, which is not under the umbrella of the state. It's covered by federal law. By contrast, the situation in NJ pertains to a state elected official, so I can't see how the Feds will be able to step into this quagmire.
