Kerry 52Early days, and as Pat so wisely put it, $200
million dollars in attack ads and opposition
research etc... is a not insubstantial force. But I
think it's safe to say that America's starting to
wake up to the truth about this administration.
Which is a good thing, and makes me for one
sleep a little better. A choice between
TweedleDee and Mordred, Prince of the
Underworld is still a choice, after all, and one
that I think anyone in their right mnd would take.
And re: "China Lake", yes, it was Lake Melissa
(which is also my beautiful niece's name), but I
named it "China Lake" cause it seemed to sing
a little better, and as the song's about the calm
before wartime it seemed fitting to name it after
a weapons testing facility. By the way, RIP Rob,
aka the song's "Richard", father, Navy Seal,
stalwart, and now passed. He was my cousin,
and at the time we spent at Lake Melissa when I
was writing that song he was preparing to do
whatever secret and unnamable things that
Seals do during wartime. (It was in the months
leading up to the first Gulf War.) He didnt talk
too much, just sat watching the water in a big
straw hat, drinking beer. Hard to blame him,
really. In fact, take imminent war out of the
equation and it's a pretty nice day.db
