over the past few weeks, i've been talking to a lot of Arabic people around town, in the cornor stores and delis, etc, a guy from Jordan who went to university in Mosul for four years and was a journalist, the Egyptians at my corner store, some Iranians and Palestinians down the street. understanding the region better than we do, they all had the same take as to the probability of our stated goal in Iraq being successful, and i quote: "impossible."

a Mission: Impossible banner would be more appropriate.

and yet i can hear our ardent supporters of the current Presidunce already..."Stay the course! Resolve! Manifest Destiny! Follow me to certain death!"...
