I can't stop listening to the new self titled Mavericks CD.
That along with the lead singer Raul Malo's solo CD from a year or two ago.
And when I need a 180 from that I pop in the new Local H CD "Whatever Happend to PJ Soles" http://www.localh.com/
For fun and a quick sing-a-long when I'm driving add The Fountains of Wayne to that list.
Another thing I'd like to mention to those of you around the country and world, a local gem of a radio station WXRT is now streaming live on the net.
SInce the early 70's this station has been a leader in breaking new music and always digging deep on the playlists to play the stuff beyond the hit singles. They also host a variety of shows that do a great service to local artists, have a music talk show called Sound Opinions and play on Saturday and Sunday night a really stunning array of live performances. The DB show from Chicago among them.
The true independent spirit has been diminished slightly in recent years but they still beat just about any other station I've heard in my national travels. I can't verify it, but I thought that I heard them say that in it's first month of streaming through partner AOL they had become the most listened to streamed station on AOL.
