Reg:One of the all-time great live albums and DVD is THE BAND's THE
LAST WALTZ. Pound for pound, this is the definitive concert and
Thanksgiving Dinner experience. Recently released in 2002 on
DVD, is the concert film by Martin Scorcese. The great news is that the original two-disc audio THE LAST WALTZ
has been replaced with a wonderful four disc box set.Just check out some of the talent that participated in this
Thanksgiving Day 1976 concert:The BAND (!!), RONNIE "The HAWK" HAWKINS, DR. JOHN, BOBBY
CHARLES, PAUL BUTTERFIELD, MUDDY WATERS, ERIC CLAPTON,
NEIL YOUNG (!!), JONI MITCHELL (!!), NEIL DIAMOND, VAN
MORRISON (!), and BOB DYLAN, plus a few other surprise guests,
such as RINGO STARR and RON WOOD.The great thing about this concert was that they were smart
enough to capture it as the EVENT it was.Even though I have other favorite concert films and DVD box sets,
this one carries the most weight, IMHO.The great thing about the expanded audio box set is that it
contains the entire LAST WALTZ SUITE --- uninterrupted --- for
your dining and dancing pleasure. Some of these guys are no longer with us --- such as Rick Danko
and Richard Manuel --- but their music will live on forever. http://www.mgm.com/lastwaltz/For anyone reading this who is unfamilar with THE BAND --- RUN,
don't walk, to your local 'wrecka stow and pick up BOTH the DVD of
THE LAST WALTZ and the 4-CD box set. Your ears will thank you
for years to come!KDB = Buffalo, NY USA
