Gene:

The CD you refer to JIMI HENDRIX LIVE AT WOODSTOCK --- I assume that you are referring to the EXPERIENCE HENDRIX release, and NOT the 1994 single disc release --- correct?

This is the CD which has the catalog # MCAD-11987 --- is this the same disc you are talking about? The cover is a reddish-orange color . . . showing Jimi holding his white Strat guitar up to his right ear.

Well my brother --- this is NOT the entire concert!!!!

There were two songs performed and sung by LARRY LEE, the backup guitarist for that show only:

01) MASTERMIND (written and sung by: Larry Lee)

02) GYPSY WOMAN (written and sung by: Larry Lee)

The CD which you refer to is MISSING THESE TWO SONGS!

Thus, while the JIMI HENDRIX LIVE AT WOODSTOCK (released on July 6, 1999) is the "most complete official release" of that concert, it is in NO WAY complete.

By the way, the reason why EH left these two songs out was because they weren't up to par with the rest of the material, and one of the songs was even slightly out of tune. EH says it will never release those two songs as part of an official release.

Here is the LIVE AT WOODSTOCK entry from the JIMI HENDRIX encyclopedia:

This encyclopedia entry contains the complete setlist --- which clearly shows these two songs as I listed above were left out of the official release of the almost complete show.

This is a common misconception, Gene.

The last day of Woodstock --- August 17, 1969 --- as luck and fate would have it --- was the exact date of Paula's birth. So, that I would meet and fall in love with someone born on that precise date is kind of neat.

As far as memorabilia is concerned --- I have an ORIGINAL matted and framed copy of the Woodstock poster signed by the artist. I also have a framed copy of the original three-day ticket from the Woodstock show --- with all three days' stubs intact. These two items are in MINT CONDITION --- and I have been told by an appraiser that they are worth a considerable amount of money if I ever decide to sell.

P.S. - There is a wonderful 60 minute DVD of eleven songs from Jimi's performance that day. It is called JIMI HENDRIX LIVE AT WOODSTOCK --- and it has the following catalog # MCADV -11988. I would highly recommend this DVD. Sadly, all of the extra film was destroyed, and this is all that remains of that performance, as far as video is concerned.
